The 12 Spanish regional broadcasters grouped in FORTA, <\/strong>with the Catalan TV3 <\/strong>and the Andalusian Canal Sur<\/strong> at the top, will be the main protagonists of the upcoming inauguration of the seventh edition of the 4KHDR Summit, the world event of Ultra High Definition (UHD),<\/a> which begins on Monday, November 15 at the Polo Nacional de Contenidos Digitales in Malaga.<\/strong><\/p>\n

With the direct and indirect entry of the 12 Spanish regional broadcasters grouped in FORTA, the number of public and private television groups in Spain that have already become members of UHD Spain is now 20. The Association will hold its first General Assembly on Monday, November 15, <\/strong>welcoming its new members and collaborators.<\/p>\n

The 12 autonomous broadcasting entities join the 7 private groups that, since January, are already part of UHD Spain as founders: Atresmedia individually and the employers’ association of private broadcasters UTECA (Uni\u00f3n de Televisiones Comerciales de Espa\u00f1a), which represents groups such as Vocento (NetTV), Unidad Editorial (VEO), Trece (COPE), TEN (Secuoya), DKiss (Herrero) and Real Madrid TV.<\/p>\n

To all of them must be added Televisi\u00f3n Espa\u00f1ola, <\/strong>which is a founding member and holds the presidency of the UHD association in the person of its Director of Technology Strategy and Digital Innovation, Pere Vila.<\/strong><\/p>\n

FORTA (Federaci\u00f3n de Organismos de Radio Televisi\u00f3n Auton\u00f3micos) is made up of the public radio and television stations of 12 of the 17 Spanish regions:<\/strong> Andaluc\u00eda, Catalunya, Madrid, Comunidad Valenciana, Galicia, Euskadi, Canarias, Castilla La Mancha, Murcia, Arag\u00f3n, Asturias and Baleares.<\/p>\n

In addition to FORTA, TV3 <\/strong>will also enter individually as a member and Canal Sur as<\/strong> a collaborator company, since both want to play a more active role in UHD Spain, which will also include the company Video-MOS as a partner and the multinational Synamedia and the Colegio Oficial de Ingenieros T\u00e9cnicos de Telecomunicaciones (COITT), as collaborators, bringing the total number of members and collaborators of this non-profit association to 36.<\/p>\n

FORTA stated in its membership application, approved by its General Meeting, that “UHD is the present and future technology that allows Television to compete in quality with other modes of broadcasting, and that will enable a better user experience to its viewers both for the broadcast channel and for the broadband”.<\/em><\/p>\n

Independently of FORTA’s entry as an organization, the Catalan Corporation of Audiovisual Media (CCMA) also requested and was approved to join UHD Spain as a full member, after having obtained the respective approval of the Government of Catalonia.<\/p>\n

The Catalan Corporation, better known nationally as TV3, explained that joining UHD Spain as a full member “will allow our full involvement in the collaborative framework that UHD Spain represents: contributing our knowledge and experience and also acquiring new knowledge through participation in the different work teams.”<\/em><\/p>\n

The 30 founding partners of UHD Spain were: <\/strong>ADM Group, Ametic, Ateme, AtresMedia, Axion, Canon, Cellnex, Dolby, Drago\/Secuoya, Egatel, Fecotel, Fenitel, Fraunhofer, Gsertel, Henneo Group, Hispasat, Hur\u00ed, Lavinia, Mediapro, Medina Media, RTVE, Rohde & Schwarz, Sapec, Tedial, Telecom Castilla La Mancha, Telev\u00e9s, TRedess, the Polytechnic University of Madrid, UTECA and Vestel.<\/p>\n

The entry of new partners and collaborators is permanently open to all those companies and professionals interested in “promoting quality television together”.<\/p>\n
